![]() ![]() The Outdoor Marine Aquariums are amazing. It’s a good place to relax and look at the water. The butterfly garden is on the north end and it has a path called Ashley Trail that heads around and down to the intercoastal where there is a small beach and bench. Boardwalk, Turtle rescue, Fish, Butterfly garden. Gumbo Limbo is made up of four different parts. She explained a little about each turtle and why it was there. ![]() It was about the different turtles in the tanks there. There were about 20 people there listening to the talk. There is a long ramp that switches back for wheelchair or walkers to easily use. We just happened to arrive just before this talk was starting So we headed off down to the lower lever. The woman at the desk asked us if we needed a map and suggested that we go to see the Turtle talk downstairs. Once inside there are a few exhibits to look at. I didn’t really know what to expect inside the Nature Center. Now that the Nature Center is reopened to the public I went there with my wife and my mother. My wife got a nice canvas shoulder bag with a turtle on it. Everything is a bit expensive but you are helping to support Gumbo Limbo so it’s fine. There is also a gift shop off the main room that has very nice gifts. I’m sure it’s only a small part of what keeps this place running. You can go into the Nature Center for free but they ask for donations. The boardwalk is almost half a mile with a couple of side trails. Parking which is to the south and attached to the Golf Course and the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. I walked on the Gumbo Limbo boardwalk that’s between Ocean Blvd. A mixed-stock analysis of samples collected from Atlin Lake commercial and recreational fisheries suggested that all genetic subpopulations contributed to the fishery and that there was some contribution from fish originating from within Tagish Lake. Genetic and morphological groupings in Atlin Lake were not associated with each other. Morphological analysis identified two morphological groups of lake trout within Atlin Lake. The genetic data suggested that there were three genetic subpopulations within the Atlin–Tagish lake system. Genetic assays were also conducted on lake trout from the adjoining Tagish Lake and from 17 other localities to provide spatial context for the variation within Atlin Lake. Lake trout from Atlin Lake were examined for genetic and phenotypic variation using eight microsatellite DNA loci, body form, and colouration. Atlin Lake is the largest lake in British Columbia, Canada, and contains relatively pristine populations of lake trout ( Salvelinus namaycush) that are key components of the lake’s fish community and local fisheries. Understanding the structure of intraspecific genetic and morphological diversity within and across habitats is a fundamental aspect of biodiversity research with conservation value.
